URBN, Shanghai

Eco-boutique hotel URBN, situated in the neighbourhood streets of Jing’an District in Shanghai, was initially opened in 2008, but has undergone a makeover in 2015 as led by celebrity fashion designer Jay Godfrey. Originally a heritage factory warehouse, URBN has been transformed into a sustainability-savvy hideaway compiled of locally sourced and recycled wood, as well as bricks reclaimed from traditional Shanghai homes. The hotel also features a carbon-offset program, which allows guests to make a donation to the Million Tree Project in their name, to aid with the elimination of carbon footprints. And if you’re after luxury, URBN is sure to deliver, with rooms that boast opulent Thai silk and velvet interiors, four-layer bed systems and stunning seasonal artwork from contemporary artists, well as a 24 hour gym and a courtyard beer garden serving a vast selection of beers, wines and cocktails, as well as italian-inspired bites.
