Art month has kicked off with a bang and art-themed hotels are increasingly become more popular outside of Europe. More people are searching for art culture in the cities they travel to on holiday, so our friends at Expedia has recommended ten art themed hotels around the world that are perfect base for any art aficionado.
This luxury hotel also doubles as a contemporary art gallery with its vast collection of more than 100 fine art works displayed in guestrooms and public areas of the hotel, including sculptures and paintings from renowned artists such as Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Chen Wen Ling, and Gao Xiao Wu.
Park Hotel Tokyo
Park Hotel Tokyo pays tribute to contemporary art with their seasonal art exhibitions on their 25th floor art lounge and their 31st floor gallery. The hotel has an “artist in hotel” programme in which for each seasonal exhibit, they transform 13 standard guest rooms into a liveable art gallery by encapsulating the artists’ passions and views of the world on the walls and interiors of each room. Park Hotel also plans to add nine more artist rooms per year in the next three years to create an entire artist floor.
Haslla Art World Museum Hotel
Gangneung, South Korea
Designed by Gangneung Wonju National University Professor Choi Ok Yeung and his wife Park shin Jung, Haslla Art World Museum Hotel was built on the concept, “the harmony between the art and the human in nature.” Haslla Art World Museum Hotel is an upcoming art community that gathers local and international artists that gather to participate workshops, educational programmes, and art festivals. The hotel holds 24 hotel rooms and is home to around 100 works of art. Guests can also walk through the 100,000 sq. m Art Park near the hotel, which boasts 300 varieties of plants.
Le Méridien Taipei
Featuring over 700 original artworks created exclusively for the hotel, Le Méridien Taipei is an art gallery in itself. The hotel also offers exclusive, artist-designed key cards that gives guests complimentary access to the Museum of Contemporary Art Tapei.
Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit
On top of the standard luxurious experience that all Sofitel hotels provide, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit also offers their newly opened S Gallery; an art exhibit collaborated with renowned French art advisor Martin Gerlier. S Gallery showcases works by emerging and established local and international artists and a collection. The inaugural exhibition that featured a collection of 72 stunning phootgraphs by France’s Charles Maze and has grown with more works since then. New exhibitions are hosted every 2 months where guests can also enjoy art-inspired small bites as they view works by a range of sculptors, painters, photographers, installation artists, and more.
