Green light for Foster + Partners

It looks like Kowloon is getting its own Central Park. Foster + Partners have just been given the go-ahead on their designs for the $21billion dollar waterfront arts hub otherwise known as the West Kowloon Cultural District. Dubbed “City Park”, the plans – which beat Rocco Design’s Cultural Connect and OMA’s Project for a new Dimension – indicate that 19-hectares of the total 40 have been earmarked for parkland, around which will sit 17 cultural buildings including a museum of modern art, an opera house and a 15,000-seat stadium.

British architect Norman Foster is well-respected in Hong Kong for his iconic designs which include the HSBC headquarters and Hong Kong International Airport at Chep Lap Kok.
