Art Month in Hong Kong

The month of March will be an eventful one for Hong Kong as various art and cultural events arrive in the city. From Asia Contemporary Art Show and the famed Art Basel, to Cavalia, an equestrian-acrobatic hybrid show, Hong Kong will be buzzing with various special events for people to feast their eyes on. LOFT has rounded up some events to look out for.

Illicit / Legit

10 March – 15 March 2015, Lot 5 Soho, Central

Style by Asia kicks off the art season with a street art exhibition displaying an array of works by street artists accross the globe. The gallery hosts an opening night 10 March 2015 that will feature live paintings and DJs in inaguration of the exhibition.  Illicit / Legit also gives guests the oppurtunity to take a look at a more urban, risqué side of modern art and gives them the chance to take some pieces home!

Chai Wan Mei Art and Design Festival

14 March – 15 March 2015, Chai Wan

Guerrilla art installations, performances, and pop-up exhibitions are only some of the activities taking place in the two days this festival is up and running. Organised by various artists, Chai Wan Mei showcases an array works based on the theme, industrial elements of Chai Wan, allowing viewers to take a peek of the current trends in Hong Kong’s local art scene.

Asia Contemporary Art Show

12- 15 March 2015, Conrad Hong Kong

ACAS will showcase 3,000 works by 400 artists from 19 different countries all over the globe. The exhibitors invite art collectors and art enthusiasts alike to join them in celebrating their theme, “Bringing a World of Art to Hong Kong.” As an official partner of ACAS, The Reserve has special discounted tickets for any members interested in attending.

Asia Hotel Art Fair

13 – 16 March 2015, Marco Polo Hotel, Harbour City

This exhibition is renowned for their unconventional platform for their artworks; instead of the traditional white walls, all artworks are displayed on multiple floors of a luxury hotel. Marco Polo Hotel will be peppered with paintings and scupltures installed on beds, windowsills, and walls. This zany method allows visitors to visualise the artworks in their own home.

Art Central

14 – 16 March 2015, Central Harbourfront

Art Central keeps the art vibe alive and inaugurates the arrival of the renowned Art Basel with a 4-day exhibition showcasing contemporary galleries from a variety of artists around the globe. Art Basel

The prestigious art event is back in Hong Kong and will open its door as soon as Art Central closes theirs. Also held in Europe and Miami, Art Basel hosts its third edition in Hong Kong and will attract tourists, art collectors, artists, and art fans from accross Asia and beyond for their international gallery of artwork. Art Basel is the chance to get to know the up-and-coming local and international artists and will showcase a wide variety of works, including photography, films, and sculptures.
